Holy Week in Pollensa

For all those of you who are spending your spring holidays in the beautiful town of Pollensa during the week of 21st March, 2016 what better opportunity to enjoy the town as well as its history and traditions than being able to join in and view one of the most beautiful celebrations in Pollensa, which is also considered one of the most spectacular in the island of Mallorca. We are talking about the Easter and Holy Week celebrations.

As every year, the town of Pollensa celebrates the Holy Week with different processions throughout the historic center of the town.

On Palm Sunday, in the morning, commemorating the arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, the People from Pollensa, as well as many visitors, participate in the procession throughout the winding streets of the historical town of Pollensa carrying olive branches and palms.

Holy Thursday, 24th of March, in the evening, there is another procession which starts and ends in the impressive Parish church of Pollensa.

But the most impressive and awaited procession during the Holy Week in Pollensa, which year after year attracts many tourists, takes place on Friday, 25th of March, the Good Friday in the Calvary Hill in Pollensa in which the 365 Calvary steps are filled with torches while Jesus is taken down from the cross and carried down to the Paris Church of Pollensa.
