WALK TO PUIG DE MARIA POLLENSA

Dear All

WHY NOT TRY THE WALK UP TO THE PUIG DE MARIA POLLENSA – STUNNING MAGNIFICENT VIEWS

Here are some  tips of walks in the area during your stay which you may wish to enjoy.

It may be you are currently staying in one of our villas, if so, this is an ideal time of year to explore the island and that includes taking advantage of some of the local walks in the area and we have some wonderful variations that includes Puig De Maria, Cala San Vincente, and Boquer Valley to name a few.

Today, we talk about Puig De Maria, here we go……..

The walk offers spectacular stunning views from the top of the 335m high mountain to the Bay of Pollensa, Pollensa, and Alcudia beyond.

The general walk takes you up winding curving road.  At the summit is XIV century monastery.  It is possible to spend the night although simple accommodation is adequate and not expensive. The last nuns left the convent in or around 1988.  There is also a picnic area, along with a small bar and restaurant to relax before your journey back down.

The actual climb up to the  Puig or top of the “Hill” as the locals refer is upward along steep curving paths, many prefer to take their cars part of the way up, park and then start their walk from this point.

As there are plenty of pine trees along the way, this does give welcoming shade for those who wish to climb during our summer months.  At the end of the curving paths, is the final and last section the ” old medieval path”, with uneven stones, therefore,  it is  suggested you wear suitable shoes for the walk.  The final stage takes you to the Puig sanctuary, which not only has a mystical atmosphere, yet offers  the most magnificent views over the valley and Pollensa and surrounds beyond, and certainly worth the effort to the summit!

We hope during your stay you have the time or make the walk and climb Puig de Maria, if not, for sure this beautiful walk is a “must”  on the agenda for your next visit!!!!!!!!

Wishing you all a nice day and happy walking…..
