HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT OUR REAL NAME IS – MALLORCA OR MAJORCA?
Today we try to clarify a question that is put to us many times due to general confusion and curiosity, not only during reserving a Villa here on this beautiful Island,or whilst here in Resort, which is is the Island called “MALLORCA or MAJORCA”.
There is a myth, the difference of the name is related to whether you refer to the island name in Spanish and/or Catalan, some even to the lengths and say MAJORCA has been introduced only by the British, which you view and read in newspaper advertisements for holidays or magazines, in the UK written as “Majorca” and not Mallorca for example.
To save any doubt we can confirm the correct name for this amazing Island is “MALLORCA” which is pronounced “MA.YOR.KA” similar to the name SOLLER a delightful resort on the south west coast of the island, which is also pronounced “SO.YOR.ER” as the two LLs become a “Y”.
We hope our explanation of enquiries and questions has clarified any doubts as to what the real and correct name of the island is “MALLORCA”!!!!
