Today, we dedicate our chat to all the “ wine connoisseurs”, referring to the excellent Vineyards the Island of Mallorca has to offer.
Whether one is a wine connoisseur or not, you may be enticed and interested to explore our wine route of the many vineyards dotted around the Island ranging from Pollensa here in the North, to and including east, west and south of the Island, which offer an interesting day visit, chance to learn about and even “sample” different wines produced here on Mallorca.
Many of the wines are sold and can be found in the local supermarkets, also Mallorca vineyards are now held and viewed seriously around the world, in high esteem, appreciated for the quality and excellence of wines produced here on the Island, to a degree, many of the Mallorcan vineyards are proud to have been presented awards including International awards, which speaks volumes of how popular the Islands wines are, also indicates we are ” closely” behind some of the most recognized wines of the world. “Congratulations to vineyards in Mallorca – keep up the good work”!
You will find many vineyards offer wine tasting, one vineyard in particular that comes to mind, here on the outskirts of Pollensa old town, is Can Vidalet, approx 2km from the town on the road leading from Pollensa to Alcudia. Hours are Mon to Friday 9am to 1pm/2pm to 6pm price 4.50 Euros 2012 which includes 5 wines, olives, Mallorcan Biscuits, served on the delightful terraces of the Vineyard.
So……..If you are interested to follow the wine route of adventure visiting ,exploring and indulging in some wine tasting on the Island, here are some suggested routes:-
1.Can Vidalet.
Pollensa north of the Island. Located approx 2km from the historic old town of Pollensa. They offer wine tasting as we mention above.

2.Mortitx
Not far from Pollensa, situated in the Tramontana mountain range in the municipality of Escorca, approx 1200ft above sea level. Mortitx have an excellent name for their wines and are proud to have received awards.

3.Jose Luis Ferrer.
Binissalem. Jose Luis Roses Ferrer founded the estate in Mallorca 1931. The visit to the vineyard finishes with a tasting of a selection of wines. Visits are minimum groups of 5 and maximum 25. Arrange a time

4.Macia Batle.
Santa Maria. The new wine estate known as Santa Maria del Cami was built in 1998. During a visit to the vineyard, one can enjoy the art work that artists contribute at the winery, they also produce their own olive oil from groves on the Estate. Visits are open to all, for large groups it is recommended bookings in advance, price 6 Euros per person Monday to Friday 11am and 4.30pm, 15th June to 14th October./ 15th October to 14th June 09.30am to 13.00. 5.Butxet Wine Estate
Muro, in the north of Mallorca, not far from the S.Albufera nature reserve. Family run Vineyard. Opening times Saturday and Sunday by appointment. Wine Tastings can be arranged prior to appointment for max of 30 people and on Saturdays and Sundays.

6.Miquel Oliver Wine Estate
Petra and Manacor areas. They are fourth generation of traditional wine making family. The winery can be visited Monday to Friday between 10am to 14.00 and 15.30 to 18.30. In July and August open to visit Monday to Friday 08.00 to 15.00. The visit includes wine tasting conducted in various languages. For larger groups recommended book in advance.

7.Anima Negra
Situated south-east of Mallorca produced wines on the old country estate of Son Burguera which is not far from the town of Felanitx. These relatively young Anima wine cellars have made a large impact on “wine connoisseurs”

8.Son Artigues Wine Estate
Porreres. Son Artigues Wine Estate has been in the family for almost 20 years. Wine Tasting on the estate is possible must be pre-arranged by calling or e.mailing.

9.Celler Tianna Negre.
Binissalem. The wine estate has some 30 hectares of vineyard and is the newest edition to the Morey-Garau family. Wine tasting and visits can take place by appointment prior to arrival. This is another Vineyard that has extensive olive groves and makes its own extra virgin olive oil.

10.Pere Seda
Districts of Manacor and Felanitx. Has reputation of winning various Spanish and international prizes producing its young white rose, red and Crianza wines.

These are just a few vineyards to mention on our Island, there are many more to explore.
