This Friday 26th of July, the town of Pollensa starts its long-awaited festivities, not only by its residents but also by all the visitors from different towns and countries who year after year visit our beautiful town during the festivities of La Patrona.
Every year, on the 2nd of August, Pollensa rememorates the victory of the christians on the 31st of May in 1550 when the pirates arrived and wanted to conquer the town. On the second of August, Pollensa relives this historical event with the Moros and Christians battle where four residents represent the four main characters (Joan Mas, Dragut, Lloctinent and Abanderat).
But this historical and cultural event is not the only one that takes place during the festivities in Pollensa. From the 26th when the Pollensa town council hangs out the flag of Pollensa until the 2nd of August when the festivities end with the mock battle of Moros and Christians, a wide variety of cultural events such as concerts, art exhibitions, activities for children etc. take place in the town.
If you are visiting the island of Mallorca this week, we invite you to come and enjoy the festivities where you will be able to learn and live the Pollensa culture and traditions.
Here below we leave you a link where you will be able to see all the activities which will take place during the festivities of La Patrona:
