{"id":295,"date":"2012-11-30T16:24:06","date_gmt":"2012-11-30T16:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/?p=295"},"modified":"2016-05-19T07:40:49","modified_gmt":"2016-05-19T07:40:49","slug":"mallorcan-villages-off-the-beaten-track-to-explore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/mallorcan-villages-off-the-beaten-track-to-explore\/","title":{"rendered":"MALLORCAN VILLAGES &#8220;OFF THE BEATEN TRACK&#8221; TO EXPLORE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dear Guests<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here we are again, guiding and \u00a0steering you to some pretty inland\u00a0villages that are \u00a0\u201c<strong>off the beaten track\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>villages of <strong>Randa and Alaro<\/strong>\u00a0to explore whilst you\u2019re here on\u00a0our beautiful Island often referred to as\u00a0the \u00a0&#8220;jewel in the mediterranean&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although both villages can be visited anytime of the year, ideally, early or late season are\u00a0without\u00a0doubt, the \u00a0best times, especially Alaro, if one wants to take the hike up to the Castle and chapel at the top of the mountain,\u00a0for the fact it is\u00a0more comfortable to explore and walk when our climate is milder rather than during our intense\u00a0\u00a0\u201chot summer months\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We mention these two villages in particular, which may be of interest to you, \u00a0for the fact, based on our\u00a0 &#8220;guests \u00a0recommendations&#8221; \u00a0during their stay\u00a0whilst exploring they\u00a0found both villages offered excellent Restaurants\u00a0within the Villages.\u00a0 In the village of \u00a0Randa\u00a0is restaurant \u201c<strong>Reco de Randa\u201d,<\/strong> and on the outskirts of Alaro, at\u00a0the \u00a0top of\u00a0the steep drive below the mountain is restaurant <strong>\u201cEs Verger\u201d,<\/strong> both of\u00a0which you may wish to add to your agenda to experience some typical Mallorcan\/\u00a0local cuisine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TODAY, we steer you in the direction of Villages Randa and Alaro:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>VILLAGE OF RANDA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/mallorcan-villages-off-the-beaten-track-to-explore\/randa\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-300\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-300\" title=\"randa\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/randa-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/randa-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/randa.jpg 466w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This is a village in the centre of the Island. Randa is\u00a0a small typical village nestled at the foot of Puig de Randa.\u00a0 There is also the Sanctuary of Gracia to visit, its origins in a cave named Cova de Aresta.\u00a0 Franciscan monks resided there in the 15<sup>th<\/sup> century,\u00a0which converted into a hermitage.\u00a0 In order to visit this magical spot you first have to go into the Village of Randa, then follow the road that leads you directly to the summit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The village itself is pretty and truly worthwhile a visit, \u00a0not forgetting to try\u00a0out\u00a0the village Restaurant \u201cReco de Randa\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0One of our staff members on the\u00a0 &#8220;recommendation of our guests\u201d \u00a0visited and tried the restaurant which she found to be as excellent as our guests\u00a0recommended.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is located next to the Hotel at the foot of the Puig de Randa,\u00a0the restaurant\u00a0interior has\u00a0fireplaces to add warmth for winter eating, and summer eating terraces for those\u00a0hotter months, \u00a0a restaurant that can be enjoyed anytime of the year.\u00a0 Dishes\u00a0vary from both Mallorcan classic cuisine as well as international dishes to choose from.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>VILLAGE OF ALARO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/mallorcan-villages-off-the-beaten-track-to-explore\/alaro\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-301\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-301\" title=\"alaro\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/alaro-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/alaro-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thebestvillaspollensa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/alaro.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Another delightful authentic Mallorcan village, a feature of this village is the appreciated \u00a0popular walk to the mountain top with its ruined castle and chapel, accessed via a track that is not uncommon for you to experience donkeys along the way.\u00a0 The walk can start from the actual town of Alaro and takes\u00a0approx 2 hours (depending on the speed you walk) or an alternative route, drive up the hairy road to the well known restaurant of Es Verger, where they offer ample parking, and you can actually walk to the castle and summit from this point, which is a much shorter walk.\u00a0 A suggestion box if you wish to walk to the top of the mountain and have lunch on return is to &#8220;reserve your meal&#8221; \u00a0at Es Verger prior to the start of your walk.\u00a0\u00a0Once you reach the castle which dates back to Moorish times, continue a little further, there is the chapel to visit and Bar serving hot and cold drinks along with sandwiches, allowing you to take sip a cool drink, whilst enjoying the most stunning views over the Island, and on some clear days it has been known that you can see the tip of the Island of Menorca!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On your descending back down from the summit you\u00a0can look forward to \u00a0your reserved meal at \u00a0Es Verger restaurant,\u00a0this restaurant as Reco de Randa has been\u00a0recommended by many of our guests.\u00a0The restaurant is \u00a0famed not only for its location perched high on the hill with marvellous views, but also for its suckling pig and, \u00a0in particular, its \u201cRoast Lamb\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0It is\u00a0a family run restaurant, offering a truly rustic atmosphere, don\u2019t expect elegance! as when we say rustic, thats exactly what it is!, and \u00a0don\u2019t expect to be served in a rush\u2026. service is\u00a0known to be lets say &#8221;\u00a0relaxed&#8221;, so, \u00a0simply sit back sipping a glass of house wine, enjoying this authentic rustic ambience, whilst your meal\u00a0is served.\u00a0 The restaurant is visited by many famous people, which includes,, to name one, \u00a0Michael Douglas who has been known to frequently visit the restaurant to enjoy its house specialty \u00a0\u201cRoast Lamb\u201d when he is here visiting the Island, so, don\u2019t forget to \u00a0take your camera \u2013 <strong>just in case someone famous is sitting nearby you<\/strong>!!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We do hope you have enjoyed reading our \u201ctips\u201d of villages to visit along with their recommended \u00a0famed restaurants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Wishing you happy exploring off the beaten track!
