In order to preserve one of the most iconic and prestigious spots on the astonishing Serra de Tramuntana, declared a Word Heritage Site by the UNESCO, the traffic to the Formentor lighthouse is regulated during summer season.
With the main aim to conserve this natural heritage of the Serra de Tramuntana, traffic on the Formentor road (Ma-2210) from Puerto Pollença to the lighthouse will be restricted from 10h to 22.30h during summer season.
WHO CAN ACCESS?
– Public transport managed by the Government of the Balearic Islands (TIB) for the two sections of road, chartered coaches, taxis, and private hire vehicles with a driver for the Formentor beach section.
-Residents of this area and vehicles carrying people with reduced mobility (prior authorization must be requested).
-Service, rescue, medical and emergency vehicles and law enforcement officers.
-Cyclists and hikers.
WHO DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS?
Private vehicles without authorization.
Motorcycles without authorization.
Trucks without authorization.
ACCESS TO THE BEACH
At the beginning of the road from Puerto Pollensa to Formentor you will find a barrier and traffic lights. In case the barrier is open and traffic light in green, that means the parking is not full, so you can drive with your car to the beach of Formentor (Please NOTE NOT to the LIGHTHOUSE). In case the traffic light is red and barrier closed, that means the parking is full and the ACCESS to the BEACH is PROHIBITED.
NOTE: you can always access the beach and lighthouse using the TIB PUBLIC BUS LINE.
HOW CAN YOU ACCESS?
-TIB public bus line
334: Alcúdia – Port of Pollença – Formentor Lighthouse
On the Formentor Peninsula, the line stops at the Mirador del Colomer, Formentor beach, Cala Figuera-Cala Murta and Formentor lighthouse.
